I've been on a bit of a hiatus with having my daughter's 1st birthday party and the preparation for that, and then there was the Noro virus which took a nasty spin through our house. I had to keep my daughter out of daycare for the last three days. Makes me realize how much I miss be at work all the time. It has been so fun, but unfortunately back to work tomorrow :(

Below are a few pics from the party. I have to say, after all the hard work and anxiety about throwing this party, it was certainly a success. A good time had by all. There was about 50 family members and friends that attended. The food was great and of course, plenty left over.
I loved how the cupcake tower came out. I decided to make my ultimate favorite devil food chocolate cupcakes and my roasted banana cupcakes. Both were with homemade whipped cream, colored in all different colors for the rainbow party!
The party signs, favor tags, banners, and food signs were all designed and made by me.
We made rainbow colored tissue poms and hung them from the staircase and chandelier. We had matching rainbow colors on the favor table and in the foyer.
For my first birthday party, not bad I think! Looking forward to throwing so many more birthday parties for my little girl :)

How did you make that cake??! That is PERFECT!!
ReplyDeleteHi, thanks for visiting my page! The cake was made using a regular loaf pan. I divided the cake batter into 6 bowls and used food coloring to make it the rainbow colors. I used three loaf pans and baked two colors next to each other in each pan to make 6 square layers. After baking them, i froze the layers (just for a couple hours) which made it easier to even them out, stack and frost them. If you plan on making a similar one, i would suggest planning for extra frosting. It surprised me how much i used!
